To display local weather, the extension contacts two external services:
ip-api.com — Used to determine your approximate city/region from your IP address, solely to fetch relevant weather. Your IP address is sent to ip-api.com as part of a standard HTTP request. We do not store this data. See their privacy policy at ip-api.com/docs/legal.
OpenWeatherMap (api.openweathermap.org) — Used to fetch current weather conditions for your location. Only your approximate city coordinates (derived from ip-api) are sent. We do not store this data. See their privacy policy at openweather.co.uk/privacy-policy.
These requests happen locally in your browser. The extension developer has no access to this data.
The extension reads your device's local system time solely to display the clock on the new tab page. This data is never sent anywhere and never leaves your device.
The extension uses an API key to authenticate requests to OpenWeatherMap. This key is bundled within the extension itself and is used only to fetch weather data on your behalf. It is not used to identify or track you in any way.
The extension uses your browser's local storage solely to save your preferences (e.g. chosen theme or quick links). This data never leaves your device.
